Gain Bringing Fiesta Salsera Dance Competition to Fountain Square

CINCINNATI (June-11-2015) – Procter & Gamble is bringing a new dance event to Salsa on the Square and giving back to the community! Presented by Gain Detergent, Fiesta Salsera is a ten-week dance competition that will have the whole city moving and shaking. The event will also act as the official launch of Gain Detergent’s Cents for Scents Campaign, a local initiative committed to providing a clean fresh start to the residents of Lower Price Hill.

The first round of the dance competition begins this coming Thursday, June 11, during Fountain Square’s weekly Salsa on the Square event. Each week judges will select two couples as the top dancers of the evening. Beginning at 9:00pm, salsa-lovers will head to the center of the plaza for their shot at the evening’s top prize – a $100 Macy’s gift card – and the chance to advance to the next round of the competition. Expert instructors will also be on-site at 7:00pm to give participants time to practice their moves before the official dance-off begins. Win or lose, all dancers will receive a commemorative Gain t-shirt as a thank-you for participating.

The Championship round will be held on Thursday, August 13, when all 18 couples will perform in front of eight judges. The winning couple will receive a cash prize of $1,000 and, of course, serious bragging rights. Gain will be on site handing out samples along with prize packs for four additional couples.

“We know how much Cincinnatians enjoy Salsa on the Square. So, we wanted to make it an even more fun event by hosting this thrilling dance competition,” said Diana Banuelos, Gain Brand Manager. “In addition this year we are excited to partner with Community Matters Washing Well program and the opportunity to bring clean and fresh laundry to an underserved community.”

The Cents for Scents Campaign will also kick off in June asking for donations of spare change. Gain bottles will be upcycled into piggy banks and placed at the front desk of local Greater Cincinnati YMCA’s.  By donating your change it will have double the impact! The challenge is to fill the bottles and Gain will make a product donation to Community Matters Washing Well and the YMCA keeps all the change.  The Community Matters Washing Well, opening in the fall of 2015, will be a safe, affordable, and local Laundromat available for all residents of Lower Price Hill.

Please note: upon qualifying for the championship round, contestants will no longer be eligible to win the weekly competition.
